Celebrating the life of
Gwendolyn A. Garner
March 13, 1944 - August 19, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Gwendolyn A. Garner announces her passing, on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
Gwen grew up in Almonesson, NJ, and Salem, VA, where she was salutatorian of her class. She was an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology. She spent her career in the field of medicine as a cardiology technician both in Chapel Hill and Savannah. Gwen raised orchids and for many years was active with the Downtown Garden Club. She was an avid gardener and lifelong reader.
Gwen was predeceased in death by her parents William Garner and Irene Phillips. Gwen is survived by her husband Ronald Onorato of Savannah, GA and his children Robert (Dianne) of Dubuque, IA, Todd (Alisa) of Barrington, MA, Connan (Pamela) of North Attleboro, MA and seven grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the support of Emily Turner of Brooklyn, NY, Lynn Evans of Chapel Hill, NC, Lois Biese of Buchanan, VA, John Gray of Providence, NC, and Drs. Philip Day and Robert Brown of Savannah.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Greater Georgia, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA. 31406 or Savannah Country Day School, 824 Stillwood Dr., Savannah, GA. 31419.
Final arrangements have yet to be determined.

In addition to enriching the Country Day community by supporting her husband, Ron, Gwen directly improved the educational opportunities available to the school’s students by graciously hosting extracurricular social events at the Onorato-Garner home and by sharing her own experiences and insights with her guests. She will be greatly missed.
